POSITION TITLE: 

Electrician’s Apprentice

POSITION SUMMARY: 

an entry-level trainee who works under the supervision of a licensed electrician to learn and perform electrical tasks

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Circuit analysis and troubleshooting: You should be able to analyze electrical circuits, identify faults, and troubleshoot issues using various tools and equipment.

  • Wiring and cabling: You should be proficient in installing, testing, and terminating electrical wiring and cables, including conduit and cable tray systems.

  •  Electrical code knowledge: You should have a solid understanding of local electrical codes, standards, and regulations, such as the National Electric Code (NEC) or Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).

  • Electrical testing and measuring: You should know how to use electrical test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers.

  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems: You should be familiar with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, and tubing.

  • Motor control circuits: You should know how to design and install motor control circuits, including starters, contactors, and relays.

  • Communication skills: You should be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and customers in a clear and concise manner.

  • Problem-solving: You should be able to analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement them in a logical and methodical manner.

  • Attention to detail: You should be meticulous in your work, paying attention to details to ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Physical demands: You should be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and crawl or climb in confined spaces.

  • Safety procedures: You should be aware of safety procedures and protocols, such as lockout/tagout procedures for electrical equipment.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of application process

  • Must be a 3rd or 4th year electrical apprentice
